Info About Our December Gala Holiday Luncheon

October 16, 2024

Hi Gallery Neighbors,

This year we are excited to offer you a unique opportunity to celebrate the season! After several months of research, we have arranged to hold our event at the San Juan Hills Golf Club. It’s a lovely venue and, in a departure from previous years, we will hold this event on a Sunday, December 8th, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.

This year we are offering a champagne reception, a wonderful buffet lunch and top-notch entertainment!

So, for this biggest event of the year for The Gallery, we wanted to answer some questions that are sure to arise (and that there isn’t room to address on the flyer!)

Why aren’t we having this at Talega Golf Club?

For years we have used the Talega Golf Club for our annual holiday dinner and music/dancing. However, we received critical reviews last year and we decided it’s time for a change. In addition, we also wanted to offer a different kind of event that we hope will appeal to singles and couples alike.

If I’m coming alone, can I bring a guest?

YES! Singles (and wives/husbands whose partner does not want to attend) please note: you can invite another person to attend this event with you. Your guest does NOT have to live in the Gallery! The online registration form will allow you to add a second person to your reservation.

What kind of entertainment is planned?

We are very pleased that Tom Horvath, the Young Man of Broadway who performed for us last January, will entertain us with his special holiday show and Broadway music. If you saw his last performance, you know what a special entertainer he is! He is a singer/dancer and theatrical performer who frequently appears at venues such as Disneyland and on Broadway.

What is on the menu?

The event will begin with two tray-passed hors d’Oeuvres and champagne. You will be treated to a sumptuous buffet featuring Salmon with a Red Pepper Sauce and a chef-attended Tri-Tip station with a Black Pepper Demi and Creamy Horseradish. (A vegan entrée will also be available; please notify the office if you require this entrée). Side dishes include Potatoes Gratin, Green Beans, Salad and Cornbread. For Desserts there will be a table of assorted sweets. Coffee, tea and soft drinks will also be included. There will be a no-host bar for those who desire a glass of wine or cocktail with their meal.

What is the cost of this event?

The cost is $105.00 per guest. Note that this covers the cost of the meal, champagne, gratuity and sales tax, also credit card fees and online registration fee. We are also required to pay a bartender fee and a fee for the use of this venue. There is a small budget for decorations.

This golf club offered us the most reasonable contract for this event compared to four other options that we reviewed in our search for an appropriate venue.

*Special Note: The Recreation Committee will be covering the cost of the entertainment, which otherwise would incur an additional $11.00 per person. Because we have a small surplus from all of the events held during the past year, we are using it to subsidize this performance for the Gallery.

Where is the San Juan Hills Golf Club?

The club is located at 32120 San Juan Creek Road, accessible from the Camino Capistrano exit off the 5 freeway north. It is a 15-minute drive from The Gallery. This event is happening in the daytime, so driving to San Juan Capistrano (or carpooling with others) should be possible for most people.

When do I register?

Registration opens on Wednesday, October 23rd at 8:00 am and closes at end of day on November 15th. Table sign-ups are scheduled for November 20th at 10:00 am. You will receive an email for signups.

Your volunteers on the Recreation Committee sincerely hope that you will consider joining us this year for an event that promises to be a memorable celebration of the holiday season!
