Orangewood and Toys for Tots

Thank you to everyone who donated to Orangewood.  We
did a great job during this trying year.  We were able to provide a truckload of toiletries, food, clothing, AND gift cards to the kids at Orangewood! Your generosity speaks volumes!

Thank you to everyone who donated to Toys for Tots. We
did a great job during this trying year. We were able to fill the 2 Toys for Tots boxes that were provided plus so much more! Our local Marines appreciate your donations so much!

Pool Closed for Maintenance

The pool and spa will be closed starting January 4th-17th, 2021 for maintenance. Both will reopen on January 18, weather permitting. Gallery Give & Take

G&T-Rec Rec

2021 is here and we’re all ready for some January renewal!

What have you missed the most since the onset of the coronavirus and Covid-19 restrictions? One thing we miss is visiting exhibits at local venues, taking a class or workshop, and traveling.  However, a cruise around the internet has revealed several opportunities that are free or very reasonable in cost. The best part is you don’t have to dress up, clean up, or even get out of bed to enjoy.  We’ve heard from some of you and found the following resources. We hope our recommendations inspire some new experiences and some “get up and go.” Happy New Year!

Click HERE to view on the Recreation Committee's page!

Next month we are looking for soup recipes!

Each month we will publish a topic and ask you to respond.  We will review the responses and highlight answers in the newsletter the following month.  Here are some upcoming topics:

FEBRUARY:  Soup recipes for cold weather days

MARCH: Interesting and safe day trips in Southern California

APRIL:  Favorite local restaurants for take-out

Send your topics and recipes to Mary Dean, marygdean@ymail.com.  You can also call (949)433-7456 or drop a note in the mailbox at 11 Camino Botero.

Let’s hear from you!

Presidents Message

As the country begins to distribute COVID-19 vaccines, there's concern about scamming.

Medicare covers the COVID-19 vaccine, so there will be no cost to you. If anyone asks you to share your Medicare Number or pay for access to the vaccine, you can bet it's a scam.

Here's what to know:

  • You can't pay to put your name on a list to get the vaccine.
  • You can't pay to get early access to a vaccine.
  • Don't share your personal or financial information if someone calls, texts, or emails you promising access to the vaccine for a fee.

More Info

If you come across a COVID-19 vaccine scam, report it to the Federal Trade Commission or call 1-800-MEDICARE.

Reminders for conduct in the Common Areas of the Gallery i.e. the Clubhouse and the surrounding areas and amenities:

Social distance and limit close contact:

  • Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet or more from people you don’t live with. Be particularly mindful in areas where it may harder to keep this distance, such as the sport courts and the Fitness Center, the Billiard room and the MPR.
  • Minimize gestures that promote close contact. For example, do not shake hands, bump elbows, or give hugs. Instead wave and verbally greet others.

Wear masks:

  • Wear a mask at all times when walking through the common areas and around people who don’t live in your household to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
  • Avoid singing, chanting, or shouting, especially when not wearing a mask and when within 6 feet of others.

Wash hands:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Limit contact with commonly touched surfaces or shared items.
  • Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and any shared items between use.

Two more reminders from the CDC…

  • Gatherings with more people pose more risk than gatherings with fewer people. CDC does not have a limit or recommend a specific number of attendees for gatherings.
  • Get your flu vaccine. Gatherings can contribute to the spread of other infectious diseases. Getting a flu shot is an essential part of protecting your health and your family’s health this season.
  • Flu vaccines are still useful any time during the flu season and can often be accessed in January or later.

Vehicle Access System Is Live

The vehicle access system is now LIVE! Did you miss the vehicle tag distribution?  Not a problem, we are holding makeup days Monday through Friday from 2-4 pm.

If you still have a windshield tag and have not received the new headlight tags that were disbursed in November 2021, please contact the onsite office.  You will need to get a replacement tag before the gate clickers are deactivated.

You will need to bring your vehicles to the clubhouse between 2-4 pm.  If you have not registered your vehicle as of June 2020 then we will need your registration. Please call 949-361-4685 and we will come out and install the new stickers.

Please note that the tags that were installed on the windshields are not compatible and must be replaced with the new headlight sticker.
