Friendly Reminder:

Pool & Spa Renovations

We are excited to announce the upcoming renovation of our pool & spa, starting on December 2nd, 2024. This major improvement project will enhance the overall experience, bringing a fresh, modern look and updated features to both the pool and spa areas.

The renovation is scheduled for completion by February 28th, 2025, ensuring that everything will be in perfect condition just before we begin heating the pool again on March 1st, 2025. During this time, the pool and spa will be closed for the necessary upgrades.

We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience throughout this process. We will be providing regular updates as the work progresses, so you can stay informed on the timeline and any additional changes.

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact Management. We’re here to help!

Thank you for your understanding, and we can't wait to reveal the refreshed pool & spa experience!

Fence Repair & Painting

The project has started!

Fence Pros will continue to post notices 2 weeks before they reach your street. This is when Residents should start to take down any mesh wire fence that is attached to the iron fence, if any.

The next streets that will get repaired/painted are Camino Del Prado, Camino Alenza, Calle Galeria, Corte Miro, Corte Ladino, Corte De Vega, and finish at Corte Sagrada. (Streets are in the order that the vendor will complete the repairs/painting)

Homeowner Sections
(side fence between neighbors)

The portion of fence on the side that meets with your neighbor is the responsibility of the homeowner.  If you would like this portion of the homeowner fence painted, our vendor will offer homeowners a special flat rate price of $100 plus the cost of any repairs, if needed. Each Homeowner has divider fences on both sides to separate the resident's backyard; the paint cost is $100 per side. Please contact Trevor for an estimate at (949) 885-6211

Paint Color: Muddy Tide from Dunn Edwards - Aristoshield product with a semi-gloss finish.

PLEASE SEE BELOW NOTICE FROM FENCE PROS:

We are pleased to share an update on the ongoing landscape improvements across the community.

South Side:
The seed on the south side of the community has already been successfully established, and as a result, those streets have been programmed for automatic irrigation. Additionally, all planter beds in this area are also set to irrigate automatically, with adjustments made based on weather conditions to ensure efficient water usage.

North Side:
The seed on the north side of the community has already been successfully established, and as a result, those streets have been programmed for automatic irrigation. Additionally, all planter beds in this area are also set to irrigate automatically, with adjustments made based on weather conditions to ensure efficient water usage.

Mowing:
Mowing will remain every other week until further notice .

Bare Spots:
Our team will continue to re-seed and top any bare spots throughout the community to ensure full coverage and enhance the overall beauty of our landscape.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our community’s outdoor spaces!

The mowing crew will start to mow every other week on Thursday and Fridays through the cooler season. In order for the mow crew to properly clean the street gutters, we ask that you not irrigate your backyards a day before mowing to reduce water runoff in the street gutters, as this creates a messy cleanup with clippings and debris getting stuck on the curbs and driveways.

 Be Scam Smart

Scammers attempt to reach you by phone, by text, and by email.

NEVER give money or personal or financial information to an UNSOLICITED contact.

Scam of the month you should be watching out for as identified by experts for AARP .

Multistage Grandparent Scam

This is a new, more sophisticated version of the old grandparent scam, in which crooks call and pretend to be a grandchild who’s been arrested and needs bail money to get out of a nonexistent legal jam.  After posing as grandchildren who’ve been jailed after a car accident, they’ll provide a case number and instruct the target to call their defense attorney or the local prosecutor. “When Grandpa calls up, they say, ‘Oh, do you have the case number?’” Foss explains. It’s actually a subtle psychological trick to see whether the grandparent is compliant and will follow their instructions to send thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.

Some scammers have a third conspirator pose as a courier and go to a grandparent’s home to pick up the money in person, according to Steve Baker, a former Federal Trade Commission official who now publishes the Baker Fraud Report newsletter.

How to stay safe: If you get a call from an unfamiliar number from a family member claiming to be in trouble, don’t panic. Instead, after you’ve finished talking — and certainly before sending money — the Federal Communications Commission recommends that you call or text the person at his or her usual number and check to see whether the family member is actually in trouble. If they don’t answer, contact other family members or friends if you have any concern that the emergency could be real. Scammers plead with you to keep the situation a secret precisely so you won’t try to confirm it.

Visit the Scam Webpage on the Gallery Website:

If the information is aggressive or makes you afraid, uncomfortable or evokes urgency....... then take a deep breath....investigate!

 SEAGARDEN NEWS

WEEP SCREED (duty of homeowner to correct soil level)

The Association has notified homeowners in Seagarden in writing about ensuring that the weep screed is not covered by soil or debris and that there is at least 2-3 inches of stucco exposed below the weep screed to ensure no flooding can occur. All homeowners and tenants need to be vigilant in checking around the exterior of the house, especially during heavy rains.  If rain water is not draining adequately or fast enough, measures should be taken to remediate the problem as soon as possible. If any interior damage is caused by weep screed issues, the homeowner is responsible for the financial consequences.

EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE

There currently is NO earthquake insurance on the Seagarden buildings

We would also like to remind each Seagarden owner that obtaining and maintaining additional earthquake and/or loss assessment coverage is to your benefit .

Loss Assessment coverage helps pay your share of certain additional assessments levied by the Gallery Association on Seagarden members for earthquake-damage repairs.   Assessment coverage is offered by CEA and maximum coverage is currently $100,000.

Please CLICK HERE to view the current expenses.

The Seagarden Advisory Committee meets the first Wednesday each month at 10AM at the Clubhouse.  All homeowners are encouraged to attend.

An Unstuffy Symphony

There is tremendous musical talent in Orange County, partly because of the LA entertainment industry and partly because south Orange County is a wonderful place to live.  At the urging of a Gallery resident, I recently had the pleasure of attending the holiday concert of the South Coast Symphony and experiencing our local talent. The South Coast Symphony calls itself “the Unstuffy Symphony” with good reason. This well attended event brought together not only the orchestra but another community musical group, the South Coast Singers.

The concert presented holiday favorites featuring the choir and symphony separately as well as combined arrangements.  A special presentation was the orchestra supporting storyteller John Huntington in a reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”  And, stuffy it was not!  To engage the audience a giant screen was positioned behind the performers which sometimes announced the piece being performed, sometimes provided the words for a sing-along, and sometimes featured close-ups of the orchestra and choir.  Seeing the faces of the performers added the right touch to the evening.

The South Coast Symphony is composed of both amateur and professional musicians and its mission is to provide entertainment and education that is affordable.  It is led by conductor Barry Silverman, who founded the organization in 1996. Silverman was music director of the Saddleback College Symphony Orchestra for many years and has been affiliated with Chapman College as well as the Orange County School of the Arts.

A special focus of the Symphony is their support of young musicians.  Each year there is a special “Young Stars of the Future” Concert presenting accomplished young musicians who have been selected through a rigorous competition. This year the concert will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 pm.  Over the years the symphony organization has awarded over $58,000 to aspiring young musicians.  The Unstuffy Symphony also offers Koncerts for Kids to Orange County school children.  Each year approximately 3,000 students experience live music from a large symphony orchestra free of charge.  Other concerts scheduled this year are in March, featuring a musical tribute to Alan Menken who has written familiar music for many Disney films, and in May, presenting Broadway Classics.

Concerts for the South Coast Symphony are held at the Coast Hills Church Auditorium in Aliso Viejo, which is probably a 30-minute drive from the Gallery.  Parking is plentiful and tickets are quite reasonable, starting at $35 for seniors.  There were quite a few seniors in the audience, including several familiar faces of former Gallery residents! Think about it: an entertaining evening, reasonably priced and relatively close to home. Tickets and more information is available at www.southcoastsymphony.org.

Thinking about Your Health & Communicating in Health Care Settings

Presented By Hilary C Siebens MD

FREE WORKSHOP: Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 2pm in the MPR

Our free workshop series returns in January with an important health topic. Communicating with doctors, nurses, therapists and other health care professionals can quickly become overwhelming and intimidating.  Dr. Hilary Siebens’ career focuses on whole person health care and approaches improve communications in busy clinical care settings. She has studied the value of a user-friendly way to coordinate all aspects of care, not just the medical crisis that lands someone in the hospital. She will present an evidence-based organizing framework with four areas critical to any individual’s health – medical, psychological, functional, and environmental. Optimal wellbeing may involve factors in any of these areas.

Dr. Siebens will also discuss the importance keeping essential personal health information organized in one place. If relevant information and health history is scattered it may be unavailable for use during urgent health situations and you may not remember or be able to provide important information. She will review options for improved communication with health care teams using electronic and paper-based media. Audience feedback and discussion is encouraged!

A little about our esteemed speaker, Dr. Hilary Siebens

Hilary C Siebens MD is a primary care geriatrician and physiatrist (rehabilitation physician) and has practiced medicine in all care settings. She cared for older adults with few active medical conditions, those with multiple enduring conditions, and those requiring palliative and hospice care. This work involved close teamwork with colleagues and enabled her to appreciate multiple issues confronting patients, care partners, families, and health care professionals. Her clinical research focused on exercise in hospitalized older adults and self-care notebooks. Her health services research has been on stroke, hip fracture rehabilitation, and care management in Parkinson’s. She has been a founding medical director for rehabilitation units and served on expert national guideline panels. She received her medical degree from Harvard, her internal medicine training at Johns Hopkins, geriatrics back at Harvard, and rehabilitation training at Tufts/New England Medical Center. She currently is Principal, Siebens Patient Care Communications LLC.
